Strategic Health Systems (SHS) has developed a web browser-based Pre-Event Vaccination System (PVS). PVS provides guided vaccination workflow, patient tracking, and CDC compliant reporting by Local Health Departments (LHD) to the State and National Authorities (CDC). PVS is currently used by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to record and process smallpox vaccinations for healthcare workers and emergency first-responders.
PVS provides the above through an easy to use and understandable web browser-based architecture that is built on Oracle software. This architecture provides scalability of the system for use by small to very large sites without significant software modification.
PVS addresses the public health initiative because it was developed in close collaboration with key medical care providers, epidemiologists, informaticists, and technologists in the field of public health from the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences, Jefferson County Health Department, the Kentucky Department of Public Health, and the CDC.
